Seurasaari is a wooded island doubling as an open-air museum: around 87 historic wooden buildings relocated from around Finland since the 1900s, giving a compressed tour of vernacular architecture. Outside the paid museum grounds, the island itself is a free park popular with locals regardless of museum hours.

Midsummer is the one time it gets genuinely busy, hosting one of Helsinki's largest bonfire celebrations.
