Design District Helsinki
Design District Helsinki is a loose federation of several hundred shops, galleries and studios spread across the blocks south and west of the Esplanadi, rooted in Helsinki's genuine design economy — Marimekko, Artek and dozens of smaller labels have outlets here alongside secondhand and craft shops in a still-working neighborhood.
The pleasure of it is unstructured wandering rather than checking off sights, and it is most alive on weekday afternoons when shops are staffed.
