Getting around: Across from the main train station and next to Parliament — impossible to miss on foot.
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00-22:00, Saturday-Sunday 10:00-20:00 for most of the building.
Oodi is Helsinki's central library, opened 2018, functioning as a public living room as much as a book repository — a maker space, recording studios, a cinema, and vast open floors, mostly free to use without a card. The undulating wood-and-glass building facing Parliament was conceived as civic space on par with the government buildings it faces.
Worth visiting even for non-readers: the top floor gives a good free view over the city center.
