Getting around: Ballenberg is near Brienz, about 25-30 minutes by train from Interlaken Ost plus a short bus/walk, or 20-25 minutes by car. There are two main entrances (East and West) with parking at each.
Hours: Open seasonally, mid-April through late October, daily roughly 10:00-17:00 (some buildings/demonstrations run shorter hours); closed in winter.

Ballenberg is an open-air museum spread across more than 60 hectares of countryside, made up of over 100 original historic buildings relocated from across Switzerland — farmhouses, workshops, a chapel — reassembled to show regional architectural styles and rural ways of life from past centuries. Many buildings are staffed with craftspeople demonstrating traditional trades like baking, weaving or blacksmithing, and there are farm animals of old Swiss breeds grazing throughout.

It's large enough that a single visit genuinely takes most of a day if you want to see more than a fraction of it, and it works well as a rainy-day-resistant alternative to the mountain excursions Interlaken is otherwise built around, since much of it can be enjoyed regardless of weather.
