Udo Island
Udo ("Cow Island," named for its shape) is the most-visited of Jeju's outlying islands, known for its white and black sand beaches, turquoise-tinted water that looks more Southeast Asian than Korean, and Udo peanut ice cream, sold everywhere and something of a running joke among repeat visitors to Jeju. Haenyeo (female free-divers) still work the waters around the island, part of a tradition UNESCO has recognized as intangible cultural heritage.
