Gapado Island
Gapado is a small, flat island off Jeju's southwest coast, mostly known for two things: its barley fields, which turn a vivid green-to-gold through the growing season and host a barley festival in spring, and its almost complete absence of the crowds and development found on Jeju itself. There are no hills, no cars beyond service vehicles, and only a handful of restaurants and guesthouses.
Most visitors come on a half-day trip from Jeju - walk or bike the loop road, eat at one of the small seafood or noodle restaurants near the pier, and take a later ferry back. Because there's genuinely little to do beyond the walk and the view, it suits people who want a quiet, unhurried few hours rather than a packed itinerary.
