Jinhae
Jinhae is famous nationwide for one thing: the Jinhae Gunhangje festival, Korea's largest cherry blossom festival, held for about ten days each spring when the city's roughly 340,000 cherry trees - many lining a railway track (Yeojwacheon Stream) and a naval base - bloom at once. It's genuinely one of the most photogenic cherry blossom displays in the country, and also genuinely overwhelmed with crowds during the festival window, with the whole city built around processing the visitor volume.
Outside the festival, Jinhae is a naval port town (home to the Republic of Korea Navy's main base) with a scattering of Japanese colonial-era buildings and a modest, workaday character - there's much less reason to visit outside blossom season, and most people plan their trip specifically around the bloom forecast, which shifts year to year with the weather.
