The Historical Village of Hokkaido is an open-air museum gathering over 50 relocated buildings from the Meiji and Taisho eras, recreating a period townscape, farm village, and fishing village from Hokkaido's early settlement period. Horse-drawn trams and sleighs (in winter) run through parts of the grounds, and staff in period dress occasionally demonstrate historical trades.

The park is spread across a fairly large area, so it takes several hours to see thoroughly, and gives useful context on Hokkaido's relatively recent settlement history compared to the much older mainland Japanese cities.
