Wellington Cable Car
The Wellington Cable Car has run since 1902, climbing from Lambton Quay in the city centre up to Kelburn, with a lookout at the top offering views over the city and harbour, and direct access into the Botanic Garden. It's a short ride (about 5 minutes) but a beloved, historic piece of city infrastructure as much as a tourist attraction.
It's a convenient, quick way to get uphill views and reach the Botanic Garden without a steep walk, and there's a small cable car museum at the top station covering its history.
