Shinsekai
Shinsekai ('New World') is a retro entertainment district built in the early 1900s modeled partly on Paris and Coney Island, centered on the Tsutenkaku Tower, and known today for its old-school, slightly gritty atmosphere and kushikatsu (deep-fried skewer) restaurants — the district's signature dish, traditionally eaten with a strict no-double-dipping rule on the shared sauce. It has a rougher, more nostalgic feel than most of Osaka's polished modern districts.
It's easily combined with Tsutenkaku Tower itself and makes a good, casual dinner stop given its concentration of kushikatsu shops.
