Mealt Falls
Mealt Falls is a waterfall on Skye's Trotternish peninsula where the Mealt River drops around 55 metres straight off the sea cliffs into the ocean below, right next to the Kilt Rock viewpoint. The falls themselves are best appreciated from the clifftop platform looking down and along the coastline, since there's no route to the base — this is a viewing spot, not a hike to a waterfall pool. On a windy day the falling water can be blown sideways before it even reaches the sea, which is its own strange spectacle.
Because it shares a car park and viewpoint with Kilt Rock, virtually everyone visits both together as a single quick stop on the Trotternish loop. It's a good example of how dramatic Skye's coastal scenery can be delivered in just a few minutes without any real walking required.
