Aci Trezza
Aci Trezza is a small fishing harbor best known for the Isole dei Ciclopi (Cyclops Islands), the jagged basalt sea stacks just offshore that, in Sicilian legend, are the rocks Polyphemus hurled after Odysseus's ship. Luchino Visconti shot much of his 1948 neorealist film La Terra Trema here, and the town still has a working fishing fleet that supplies the seafood restaurants lining the small piazza by the harbor.
It's a quiet, unpretentious stop — no major monuments, just the dramatic volcanic coastline, boats bobbing in a tiny port, and grilled fish. Small operators run short boat trips out to the islets in season; otherwise the whole town is a short stroll.
