Roskilde Fjord is the long, sheltered inlet on which Roskilde sits, historically central to the town's identity as a Viking-age trading and shipbuilding center — several of the ships displayed at the Viking Ship Museum were found scuttled in these waters. Along its shores are opportunities for walking, sailing, and, further north, quieter nature areas within Skjoldungernes Land National Park.

It's more a backdrop and recreational area than a single sight, best experienced via the harbor promenade, a boat trip, or a longer walk or cycle along its shoreline.
