Lindenhof
Lindenhof is a small tree-shaded plateau above the old town, the site of a Roman customs post and later a medieval fortress, now a quiet public square popular for chess games on giant outdoor boards and offering a good elevated view over the Limmat, Grossmünster's towers and the old town rooftops. Unlike many of Zurich's other viewpoints, it requires no funicular or paid access — just a short walk up from street level.
