Kalamata Castle
A Frankish castle built in the early 13th century after the Fourth Crusade carved up Byzantine territory into feudal states, later modified under Ottoman rule, and now a partial ruin sitting on a hill above the old town with views over the city and the Messenian Gulf. The interior structures are mostly gone, but the walls and towers that remain give a good sense of the fortification's scale.
