Itzurun Beach
Itzurun Beach in Zumaia is known less for swimming and more for the flysch, dramatic layered rock formations running along the cliffs and shoreline, created by millions of years of sediment deposition later tilted vertically by tectonic activity. The striped rock strata are visually striking and have made the area a minor geological attraction as well as a filming location (parts of Game of Thrones were shot along this coast).
Swimming is possible and the beach is popular with surfers given decent Atlantic swells, but the geology is the main draw for most day-trippers coming specifically to see the flysch. Tide timing matters for how much of the rock formations are visible and walkable.
