Athirappilly Falls
Athirappilly Falls, sometimes called the "Niagara of India," is Kerala's largest waterfall, a wide, powerful cascade dropping around 80 feet amid dense forest at the edge of the Sholayar range. It's one of Kerala's most photographed natural attractions and has appeared in numerous Indian films.
The falls are most impressive during and just after monsoon (roughly June to December) when water volume peaks; the dry season sees a noticeably reduced flow. Viewing platforms let you get relatively close to the falls, and the surrounding forest area, part of the Sholayar range, adds to the overall scenic value of the trip.
